Livestock Manager
Agri Talent
Job Description
Your Employer
Our client is a private, family-run mixed farming operation near Donnybrook/Queenwood, WA. The property spans livestock, irrigated horticulture, cropping, fruit, nuts, vegetables and land restoration projects. The Farm is an 850-acre property along the Preston River, with a strong focus on regeneration, biodiversity, sustainable production and practical farm improvement.
The Role
This newly created Livestock Manager role will take ownership of the farm’s animal program, balancing daily animal care with the longer-term development of a high-quality, multi-species livestock portfolio. You will report to the Farm Manager and work closely with operations and ownership.
Key responsibilities include
- Source and purchase quality livestock from reputable suppliers
- Plan and oversee breeding programs, genetics and herd/flock improvement
- Manage daily husbandry, feeding, animal health and welfare
- Build practical systems, records and scalable livestock processes
- Coordinate staff support during livestock projects and seasonal windows
- Maintain compliance, animal health records and reporting
- Research markets, contractors, specialists and future opportunities
About You
You are a practical livestock person who enjoys animal care, breeding, systems and building something properly from the ground up.
You will bring
- Livestock, animal farming or breeding experience
- Knowledge of animal health, welfare, breeds and genetics
- Confidence working across mixed animals, not just one species
- Sound records, compliance and reporting habits
- Full driver’s licence and Australian working rights
- Willingness to travel for sourcing, sales or training when needed
- A flexible, hands‑on approach across a mixed farming operation
The Benefits
This role offers rare scope to shape a livestock program rather than simply maintain one. The current and planned animal mix includes Merino sheep, rare‑breed sheep, alpacas, dogs, a horse, potential miniature cattle and expanded poultry projects.
Remuneration
- Salary benchmark $90,000–$115,000
- Flexibility for an exceptional candidate
- Potential bonus or commission opportunities
- Time-in-lieu for occasional weekend work
- Relocation or accommodation support considered case‑by‑case
