Are you a logistics professional ready to take ownership of end-to-end freight and supply chain operations? We are recruiting a Logistics Specialist to join a well-established manufacturing business based near Witham, Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a logistics background to play a pivotal role in keeping international and domestic supply chains moving efficiently - working across air, road and sea freight whilst being the key point of contact for export procedures and third-party logistics partners.The Role - Logistics SpecialistAs Logistics Administrator, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimising the movement of goods across UK and international routes.
Reporting into the Supply Chain Supervisor, you will manage transport costs, build loading plans, and ensure shipments are booked, tracked and executed in line with customer requirements and business targets.Please note this role is full time, 5 days a week in the office. Hybrid work pattern is not available. Key Responsibilities of the Logistics SpecialistReview sales orders and pre-book shipments, liaising closely with the Customer Service and Planning teamMaintain and update the Transport Costs spreadsheet and Daily Warehouse Loading ScheduleCreate inventory picks and develop loading plans to maximise loading efficiencyObtain carriage quotes for the Supply Chain and Commercial teamsMonitor and manage third-party logistics providers, implementing robust countermeasures where neededMaintain and improve shipping costs for export and UK special consignmentsSupport customers with export procedure queries and documentationDrive KPI reporting and contribute to continuous improvement across the logistics functionMonitor supplier performance and identify opportunities to enhance service levelsWhat We're Looking ForTo be considered for the Logistics Specialist position, you will need to demonstrate:Previous experience within a logistics role - any industry consideredA solid understanding of air, road and sea freight, including groupageKnowledge of Incoterms and export paperwork and proceduresStrong IT skills, with proficiency in ExcelThe ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, with excellent time managementA customer-focused mindset and good commercial awarenessGCSE English and Maths (grades A-C or equivalent)An industry-recognised qualification in logistics (IoSCM/CIPS) and a Certificate in Export Documentation are desirable but not essentialPlease note due to the location of our client; you must be able to drive as public transport is limited.What's on Offer - Logistics SpecialistFull-time, fully office-based role near Chelmsford, Essex25 days holiday plus Bank HolidaysUp to 7.5% employer-matched pension schemeAnnual bonus scheme (subject to criteria)Free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)Employee recognition schemes - Employee of the Month, CEO Coin and On the Spot awardsLong service recognitionProfessional fees and study costs supported (subject to criteria)Free tea and coffee on siteIf you are an experienced Logistics Specialist looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
