Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTasks and Responsibilities:Provides day to day supervision of high complexity testing and must remain accessible to testing personnel.Schedules and maintains complete coverage of all shifts and performs bench work in the laboratory, as needed and reviews and monitors payroll activities.Ensures that testing personnel utilize the appropriate pending reports to confirm all testing on all shifts is accounted for and performed.Provides orientation to all testing personnel and annually evaluates and documents the performance in all areas of testing for testing personnel.Conducts performance evaluations and competencies for all departmental staff.Monitors test analysis and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.Performs assessment of the operation of all instruments in areas of responsibility and assigns maintenance procedures or repairs as needed.Ensures all documentation required by regulatory agencies, including quality control, maintenance and service records, and all documentation required for general operation of the laboratory is available.Assists Laboratory Manager in the assessment of the efficiency of the utilization of all resources in areas of responsibility, including personnel management, equipment/reagent responsibility, equipment/reagent evaluation and method development.Maintains inventory of supplies utilized by all laboratory areas and assists Laboratory Manager in placing supply orders as needed.Assists Laboratory Manager in the analysis and recording of all monitors of all quality assurance systems required to maintain precision and accuracy, including proficiency testing.Ensures the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment according to OSHA and CLIA regulations.Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, and computer) as needed and escalates accordingly.Identifies and pursues self-improvement needs.Seeks coaching/mentoring when appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned. Compliance Responsibilities: Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).Provides leadership and support for the Compliance process within managementPromotes adherence to applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures as specified within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA, and CIA within managementDistributes compliance-related materials within managementEnsures timely and accurate reporting and responses to compliance-related issues and monitors the implementation of corrective action plans related to such issues.Ensures that staff participates in orientation and training programs including, but not limited to, all required compliance and HIPAA courses and relevant policies and procedures, and that such training is properly documented.Provides open lines of communication regarding compliance issues within management area, ensures that retaliation against staff who report suspected incidences of non-compliance does not occur.Participates in monitoring and auditing activities and investigations and implementing quality improvement process, as required.Completes performance reviews and determines compensation and promotions based on the accomplishment of established standards that promote adherence to compliance and qualityParticipates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA trainingPrepares compliance reports, asCore Competencies/Skill Set: Strong verbal and written communicationStrong planning and organizationDemonstrates understanding of healthcare staffingApplies sound business judgment in decisionDemonstrates critical analysis and complex problem-solvingDemonstrates ability to manage highly confidential and proprietaryProficient in computer skills that include spreadsheets, presentations and word processing software and Microsoft Office required.Experience/Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Biological, Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science as per CLIA standards2-4 years’ experience as per Technical Supervisor CLIA standards.ASCP certification preferred.Must be prepared to provide the appropriate documented experience as per CLIA standards
