ML Engineer

With extensive experience in projects with leading mining companies in Peru and a presence in South America, Central Asia, Africa, and the United Kingdom, ASTAY delivers innovation and added value to the global mining industry. We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to support the training, deployment, and maintenance of ML models, contributing to the automation of the system lifecycle and improving the quality of production systems. This role requires the ability to apply advanced simulation and optimization techniques to generate a tangible impact on production processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or degree in Computer Science Engineering or related fields.
• Good command of Python oriented to ML.
• Experience taking models to production or staging.
• Familiarity with MLflow, Docker, and training environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and good code quality practices.
• Experience with Optuna or hyperparameter tuning tools.
• Familiarity with gRPC.
• API development with FastAPI.
• Knowledge of prescriptive models and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and maintain Machine Learning model training pipelines with support for GPU-accelerated processing.
• Develop and integrate Machine Learning models into the Observation Builder, managing the basic computational geometry required for the processing and representation of spatial data.
• Design, execute and validate functional tests, quality gates and benchmark manifests, ensuring compliance with the quality, performance and reliability standards of the models.
• Configure, manage and monitor model tracking and experimentation tools, such as MLflow and TensorBoard, ensuring traceability and reproducibility of experiments.
• Develop, automate, and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, including packaging, versioning, and distribution of Machine Learning models.
• Manage and execute model retraining and curriculum learning processes, optimizing the performance and continuous evolution of artificial intelligence models.
