Project Coordinator – Whissell Contracting Ltd. Join our team as a Project Coordinator and help keep complex infrastructure projects running smoothly. You’ll assist with planning, document control, scheduling, and communication across all stakeholders.
You’ll work closely with project managers to coordinate resources, track timelines, and maintain safety and quality documentation. Locations: Calgary – Edmonton – Lethbridge Responsibilities Emphasize safety as the top priority and ensure safety policies and safe work methods are implemented at the jobsite.
Develop, monitor, update and communicate the schedule progress. Track actual production quantities and costs, reporting them to the Project Manager. Oversee all field correspondence and site documentation to the Owner, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors and other parties.
Review manpower requirements with the superintendent/foreman and inform the PM of required changes. Coordinate delivery of materials, ensuring they are expedited and properly tracked. Coordinate contract changes, including communication with the superintendent/foreman and updating documentation.
Assist with project scheduling, including three‑week look‑ahead schedules. Review project schedules with the Project Manager and provide updates on invoice payments. Attend site meetings when the General Superintendent is unavailable and capture necessary information.
Immediately stop and correct safety and/or environmental violations or infractions. Manage subcontract schedules and monitor quality of work. Establish and maintain a professional relationship with the Owner, Project Engineers, local businesses, police, and fire departments.
Gather and review daily jobsite reports and compile productivity factors from field reporting. Compile and track quantities and costs; document plan revisions, change orders and other necessary paperwork. Be familiar with specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
Interface with general contractors and subcontractors, ensuring detailed follow‑up. Respond to inquiries from department personnel regarding assigned project status. Comply with Whissell and local Occupational Health and Safety regulations and monitor employee compliance with OHS rules and standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment and maintain project files. Qualifications Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Technology (CET) required. Registration with APEGA or ASET preferred.
Demonstrated experience in construction project coordination or management. Job‑site experience in heavy construction, micro‑tunnel construction in rock, soft ground and mixed conditions, and renewable energy projects such as wind and solar. Ability to work with a wide variety of construction trades, engineers, inspectors, owners, and utility representatives.
