Position Overview
As a Project Director at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for providing in‑house production work upon request, and training in our area of expertise. We provide project management support for all phases of a project’s life – preliminary engineering, final design, construction inspection and maintenance and asset management – to accomplish the client’s goals and needs.
A Typical Day Might Include
- Building relationships and growing business in the transportation sector.
- Develop business by a marketing company to existing clients and as well identifying and marketing to new clients.
- Meeting with cities, counties and local agencies for business development purposes.
- Responsible for design calculations, plan preparation, and direction of schematic designs for TxDOT and local government projects
- Manage and maintain project schedules and financial requirements
- Uses advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in a specialized engineering field and related sciences and disciplines.
- Sr. Project Manager will interact with Client and other consultants and must have good communication skills.
- Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Required Education / License / Certifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering is required
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer
Required Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience with Microstation, Geopak (or Open Roads) and TxDOT procedures a must
- Experience with Civil 3D is a plus
- Multiple levels of responsibility are available with PE preferred
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and internal employees
- Ability to build strong relationships
