Structural Design Engineer, Rail + Transit

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead and support the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for major transportation projects in a growing Rail+Transit practice. The position offers the opportunity to shape Canada’s future mobility network through the design of transit stations, maintenance facilities, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support structural engineering design for rail and transit infrastructure projects throughout Canada.
• Perform structural analysis, design calculations, and engineering assessments for a variety of transportation structures.
• Develop design drawings, technical specifications, engineering reports, and construction documentation.
• Design and review structural systems using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and other construction materials.
• Coordinate with civil, track, systems, architecture, geotechnical, and construction teams.
• Participate in all project phases from planning to construction support.
• Conduct structural inspections, condition assessments, and rehabilitation studies as required.
• Ensure designs meet Canadian codes, standards, client requirements, and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Support client engagement, proposal development, and business growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering, or a degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
• 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing transportation, transit, rail, bridge, industrial, or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian design codes and standards, including CSA and transportation agency requirements.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS, RAM, or similar platforms.
• Experience developing construction documents and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering designs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining high technical standards.
• Passion for infrastructure and a desire to shape Canada’s future transportation network.

• Base compensation range of $90,000–$115,000 annually.
