Structural Design Engineer
Struct Bombay Consultants - India
Job Description
Location: Navi Mumbai
Experience: 2–5 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role SummaryWe are looking for a Structural Design Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to join our Navi Mumbai team. The role involves the analysis and design of RCC building structures, with a strong focus on structural safety, economy, constructability, and practical implementation at site.
The successful candidate will work on projects from the structural planning and analysis stage through detailed design and construction drawings. This position requires strong engineering fundamentals, proficiency in structural analysis software, and the ability to coordinate effectively with architects, consultants, drafting teams, and senior structural engineers.
Success in this role means delivering accurate, code-compliant, economical, and practical structural designs within project timelines while taking increasing ownership of projects and technical decisions.
Responsibilities• Develop structural framing schemes based on architectural drawings and project requirements.
• Create, analyse, and review structural models using ETABS and other relevant structural engineering software.
• Perform analysis and design of RCC structures, including slabs, beams, columns, shear walls, staircases, foundations, and other structural elements.
• Interpret analysis results and apply sound engineering judgement rather than relying solely on software outputs.
• Design structures in accordance with applicable Indian Standards, codes, and project-specific requirements.
• Optimise structural designs for safety, serviceability, economy, constructability, and efficient use of materials.
• Prepare and review structural design calculations, design inputs, analysis reports, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, geotechnical consultants, project teams, and structural drafting teams.
• Review structural drawings to ensure they accurately reflect the design intent and are practical for execution at site.
• Identify and resolve coordination issues, design conflicts, and technical challenges during the design and construction stages.
• Respond to site queries and provide technically appropriate solutions where required.
• Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across structural models, calculations, and drawings.
• Manage assigned design tasks and deliverables within agreed project timelines.
• Contribute to internal design reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s structural design standards and processes.
Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in structural analysis and design of RCC building structures.
• Strong proficiency in ETABS is required.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Knowledge of SAFE, STAAD.Pro, or other relevant structural engineering software will be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of RCC design, structural behaviour, load paths, seismic analysis, and foundation design.
• Good knowledge of relevant Indian Standards and design codes, including RCC, loading, and seismic design provisions.
• Ability to independently analyse engineering problems and develop safe, economical, and practical design solutions.
• Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and multidisciplinary drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in high-rise buildings, redevelopment projects, residential towers, commercial buildings, or complex RCC structures will be an advantage.
We are looking for an engineer who is technically curious, takes ownership of their work, and wants to develop into a well-rounded structural design professional while contributing to challenging real-world projects.
