Job Description
The Student Engagement & Happiness Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Madras Engineering College campus in Chennai. This role involves planning and executing student engagement initiatives, events, and activities that foster a positive and inclusive campus culture. The officer will regularly interact with students to understand their needs, gather feedback, and coordinate support services that enhance overall well-being and satisfaction.
Daily responsibilities include collaborating with academic and administrative teams, managing communication channels to promote events and resources, maintaining records of engagement outcomes, and recommending improvements to student experience programs. The role also requires monitoring student participation trends and developing targeted initiatives that support academic success, personal growth, and a strong sense of community.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills to engage effectively with diverse student groups.
- Experience in student affairs, counseling, event management, or campus engagement roles within educational institutions is preferred.
- Ability to design and coordinate student-focused programs, workshops, and events that encourage participation and community building.
- Skills in conflict resolution, empathy, and supportive guidance to help students navigate challenges and access appropriate resources.
- Proficiency with basic office software, social media, and digital communication tools to promote initiatives and track engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Management, or a related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple activities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, student well-being, and creating a safe, respectful, and encouraging campus environment.
