Telugu Content Writer and Editor

Location: Hyderabad, Telangana

Note: Current senior journalists working with leading Telugu-language media dailies, as well as former journalists with more than 10 years of experience and a strong understanding of Telangana’s political, governance and public affairs landscape, are strongly encouraged to apply. Such candidates will be given first preference.

About the Office: The selected candidate will work with a Hyderabad-based Strategy and Coordination Unit supporting the Office of a Senior Minister. The unit is responsible for political monitoring, governance and public-policy research, media monitoring and strategic communication concerning Telangana and India. It prepares speeches, press releases, talking points, public communication material, social-media content and inputs for the Minister’s tours, meetings, media interactions and public programmes.

About the Role: We are looking for a politically aware and creative Telugu Content Writer and Editor with an excellent command of the Telugu language. The candidate will be responsible for converting political, governance, public-policy and research inputs into clear, persuasive and audience-specific communication. The role requires strong writing ability, political understanding, creativity and the ability to work within short timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare Telugu speeches, press releases, media statements, talking points and public-address notes.
• Write social-media posts, captions, video scripts, reel scripts, quote-card copy and infographic content.
• Convert research, government data, policy documents and political inputs into simple and impactful public communication.
• Understand political ideas, policy objectives and governance initiatives and articulate them according to the speaker, subject and intended audience.
• Develop campaign themes, slogans, headlines, political narratives and communication concepts.
• Prepare content for public meetings, press conferences, interviews, media interactions and digital platforms.
• Draft issue-based explainers, opinion articles, rebuttals and rapid-response communication.
• Translate and adapt content between Telugu and English while retaining the intended meaning and tone.
• Review and proofread Telugu content used in graphics, videos, subtitles, captions and public communication material.
• Coordinate with research associates to verify facts, figures, claims and contextual information.
• Provide clear content direction to graphic designers and video editors.
• Monitor political speeches, media narratives, digital trends and public conversations.
• Ensure consistency in language, tone, messaging and political positioning.
• Work on multiple assignments and deliver high-quality content within short and changing deadlines.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding internal discussions, strategy documents and unpublished material.

Eligibility and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in political communication, journalism, government communication, advertising, digital media, news media or content creation.
• Previous experience in writing speeches, press releases, political content or public communication will be preferred.
• Candidates with a strong Telugu writing portfolio may be considered even if they come from a different professional background.

Academic Eligibility

• Graduates from reputed institutions are eligible to apply.
• Preference will be given to candidates from Tier-1 institutions and leading universities with backgrounds in journalism, mass communication, Telugu literature, political science, public policy, law, management, social sciences or related disciplines.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong writing ability, political awareness, creativity and structured communication skills.
• Candidates from other institutions with strong relevant experience and an exceptional writing portfolio will also be considered.

• Excellent command of Telugu grammar, vocabulary, writing, editing and proofreading.
• Strong understanding of Telangana politics, society, culture and regional issues.
• Ability to write in formal, conversational and politically persuasive Telugu.
• Strong awareness of Indian politics, governance and current affairs.
• Ability to simplify complex government and public-policy subjects.
• Strong storytelling, narrative-building and headline-writing abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and fact-checking discipline.
• Ability to collaborate with researchers, designers, video editors and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and confidential environment.
• Language Requirements
• Fluency in Telugu reading, writing, speaking and typing is mandatory.
• Professional proficiency in English is required.
• Knowledge of Hindi will be an added advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in political speechwriting or regional journalism.
• Experience creating content for social-media posts, advertisements, banners, reels and videos.
• Familiarity with Telugu media, digital trends and political terminology.
• Ability to provide Telugu voice-over will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted content and language tools is desirable.
