The Opportunity: Chief Operating Officer, EnergyThis is a career-defining COO role for a proven operational leader who wants real ownership, real scale, and real impact. Reporting directly to the President, you will take end-to-end operational leadership of a global energy portfolio spanning upstream gas, LNG project delivery, and downstream power and terminal assets. You will play a central role in transforming a major LNG project from construction into world-class, steady-state operations—while building a disciplined, high-performance operating culture across regions.
What You’ll LeadOwn a Global Energy Platform: Provide hands-on leadership across upstream E&P in Canada, the Woodfibre LNG (WLNG) project, and downstream LNG terminals and power assets in China.Deliver a Flagship LNG Project: Drive the successful construction, commissioning, and start-up of WLNG Phase 1, ensuring delivery on schedule, on budget, and to world-class operational standards.Build Operational Excellence: Set performance benchmarks, embed KPIs, improve asset reliability, and instill a rigorous, execution-focused operating culture across the portfolio.Partner at the Top Table: Act as a trusted operational counterpart to the President, shaping decisions with deep technical and execution insight.Represent at the Highest Level: Engage confidently with JV partners, regulators, governments, and local communities across Canada, China, and international markets.
What We’re Looking For20+ years of senior operational leadership across integrated energy or LNG businessesProven experience running LNG plants and delivering large-scale projects (liquefaction experience strongly preferred)Exposure to North America (Canada preferred); China experience a strong advantageA hands-on, decisive, entrepreneurial leader who thrives in complex, high-accountability environmentsStrong cross-cultural communication skills; Mandarin a plusAdvanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred; global travel required
