Commissioning Project Manager:
Responsibilities:
The Commissioning Project Manager (CxPM) is responsible for leading and managing commissioning activities for data center and mission-critical facility projects. The role involves coordinating with commissioning agents, contractors, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure all systems are tested, validated, and handed over in compliance with project and client requirements.
Commissioning Planning & Execution
• Develop and manage commissioning execution plans and project milestones.
• Coordinate commissioning activities from design review through project handover.
• Monitor commissioning schedules and ensure alignment with project timelines.
• Track and manage commissioning observations, risks, and issue resolutions.
Design & Engineering Coordination
• Review mechanical and electrical system designs for commissioning readiness.
• Validate redundancy, resiliency, and elimination of Single Points of Failure (SPOF).
• Coordinate with engineering teams to address design gaps impacting commissioning.
• Review commissioning documentation, models, and technical submittals.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
• Lead and manage Commissioning Agents (CxA), contractors, and third-party vendors.
• Conduct project kick-off meetings and commissioning coordination meetings.
• Ensure vendors comply with commissioning specifications and project standards.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and site testing activities.
Testing & Validation Oversight
• Oversee Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning testing.
• Manage Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and performance validation.
• Review and approve test scripts, procedures, and commissioning reports.
• Ensure verification of alarms, failover scenarios, and emergency operating modes.
Site Execution & Quality Control
• Coordinate site mobilization, safety inductions, and logistics.
• Conduct installation and system walkdowns.
• Validate installation quality against approved drawings and specifications.
• Ensure proper asset labelling, documentation, and commissioning readiness.
Risk & Compliance Management
• Identify commissioning risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with client commissioning standards and industry best practices.
• Track deficiencies and ensure timely closure of commissioning issues.
Project Closeout & Handover
• Validate as-built documentation and system configuration settings.
• Ensure completion of IST and final acceptance testing.
• Review and approve final commissioning documentation.
• Support lessons learned documentation and project closure.
Qualifications and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of project or commissioning management experience.
• Experience in mission-critical or data center projects is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of commissioning lifecycle processes.
• Experience managing multi-vendor and cross-functional teams.
