About the Role
Salary up to $150,000
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS along with supporting statistical schedules.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of various financial reports for internal stakeholders.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities.
- Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and ensure that the team adheres to company policies and accounting principles.
- Manage workload distribution and provide support to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
- Month-End & Year-End Close:
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
- 13 Week cashflow review and preparation.
- Review the monthly GST/HST/PST/QST Tax filings.
- Assist with CRA audits.
- Coordinate the preparation of tax filing packages and support the annual & quarterly audit process.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor compliance with accounting regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Recommend improvements to internal processes and controls as needed.
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and financial regulations.
- Experience with tax compliance and corporate governance.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g Oracle, SAPCON) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and present findings clearly and concisely.
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a fast‑paced or high‑growth environment.
- Experience with intercompany reconciliation & multi branch accounting.
- Experience with Hedge Accounting and Foreign exchange transactions.
- Experience with financial interfaces Oracle=>EPM=>SAP or similar would be an asset.
Required Skills
