Job Description
Overview Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust is seeking an Infection Control Practitioner to lead infection prevention and control across its three hospice sites in Walsall, Worcester and Birmingham. The role also supports the Care Education Team in designing and delivering high‑quality learning programmes. Responsibilities Provide specialist input in the identification, prevention and control of infection.
Monitor staff compliance with infection prevention and control policies. Identify potential infection hazards and propose remedial action to relevant personnel. Support the Care Education Team to develop and deliver an education plan that meets identified learning needs.
Critically evaluate information and research to formulate advice on the prevention and control of infection. Collaborate with care team members and external agencies in the identification, investigation and management of outbreaks. Qualifications and Eligibility Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
Previous experience in infection control. Evidence of post‑qualification basic training in infection prevention and control. Demonstrated ability to be a change agent.
Eligible to work in the UK. Additional Requirements Subject to an enhanced DBS check for children. Required to provide two satisfactory references.
Required to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm willingness to receive necessary vaccinations. Support the implementation of the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child into the organisation’s culture and practice. Benefits £46,920 to £53,040 per annum.
