Job Details
Position Summary
We are seeking a litigation attorney admitted to practice in Florida who has experience in one or more of the following areas: general liability, trucking, business litigation or construction defect. The ideal candidate will manage all phases of litigation, develop case strategies, and represent clients in state and federal courts throughout Florida.
Responsibilities
- Handle caseload from intake through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions and hearings
- Develop litigation strategies tailored to general liability, trucking, business disputes or construction defect matters
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, motions and other court filings
- Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations and trial proceedings
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, insurance adjusters, experts and witnesses
- Negotiate settlements and prepare settlement agreements and releases
- Monitor case budgets, billing and deadlines, ensuring matters remain on schedule
- Coordinate with colleagues on case staffing and strategy discussions
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admitted and in good standing with the Florida Bar
- At least 3 years of civil defense experience
- Minimum of three years of civil litigation experience in at least one of the following practice areas: general liability, trucking, business litigation or construction defect
- Proven courtroom or arbitration experience preferred
- Exceptional analytical, writing and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational aptitude
- Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
