IT Governance Lead (Public Sector)

The Role:We are engaged with a Global Leader in Technology Consulting who are seeking an experienced Technology Governance Lead to strengthen and oversee IT and security governance via one of their Public Sector partners. This role is critical in ensuring alignment with Instruction Manual 8 (IM8) requirements, public sector standards, and the organization’s defined risk appetite.If you are passionate about governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and building structured decision-making frameworks within a government environment, we welcome your application.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & StrategyLead the development, enhancement, and oversight of IT governance frameworks aligned with IM8 and industry best practices.Establish structured strategic, operational, and technical decision-making processes to ensure IT services support agency priorities.Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT Governance workplan to sustain IM8 compliance across all systems.Review and enhance existing governance practices to improve control effectiveness and resilience.

Risk, Controls & ComplianceDesign and implement IT and security key metrics aligned with key risks and controls.Execute IT and security control validations for projects and Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations across on-premises and cloud environments.Drive Patch Governance sessions to ensure timely remediation of critical and zero-day vulnerabilities.Provide structured input into Enterprise Risk Reporting for Cybersecurity and Data Security.Oversee third-party governance to ensure vendors, contractors, and staff adhere to IM8 and security standards.

Audit & Committee LeadershipLead technology and security audit engagements to ensure timely remediation and positive outcomes.Chair the Technology Risk Governance Committee (TGRC) and deliver monthly governance reports.Serve as Secretary to the Security Review Committee (SRC).Represent IT and Security Governance in Change Advisory Board (CAB) forums.

Stakeholder EngagementPartner closely with Internal Audit, Chief Data Officer teams, Agency Security Officers, and technology/business leaders to ensure cohesive governance implementation.

RequirementsStrong experience in IT Governance, Technology Risk, or Cybersecurity Governance within public sector or regulated environments.Working knowledge of IM8 compliance and public sector governance frameworks.Experience leading audit engagements, governance committees, and enterprise reporting.Familiarity with cloud and on-premises control environments.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
