Job Description
Quality Assurance and Quality control: Plan and participate in implementing project quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities to ensure project conformance to applicable requirements, specifications, and standards across all project phases. Receive and Inspect Materials: Verify the quality and quantity of materials upon arrival at the site, checking against purchase orders and specifications.Material Testing: Ensure that materials meet the required specifications by performing or overseeing tests (e.g., thickness, size, hardness, MI.)Documentation Review: Inspect and verify material certificates (e.g., Mill Test Certificates) to ensure materials meet required standards (ASME, ASTM, etc.).Reports & tracking: Prepare material inspection reports and tracking sheet.Vendor management: Handle quality issues with vendor and resolve such issuesEnsure Compliance: Ensure all materials conform to applicable industry standards, such as ASME, API, ASTM, or project-specific requirements.Review of Specifications: Confirm that the materials supplied align with the project’s technical requirements, codes, and standards.Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of materials received, inspected, and tested. Ensure all documentation is properly logged.Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Quality Observation report (QOR): Report any materials that do not meet the required standards, ensuring corrective actions are taken.Inspection Reports: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports and submit them to the project management team.Coordination with Suppliers: Communicate with suppliers and vendors to resolve issues related to material quality, delivery, and compliance.Collaboration with Construction Team: Work closely with project engineers, quality control (QC) teams, and contractors to ensure materials are used according to project specifications.Inspection Scheduling: Schedule and coordinate inspections, both at the site and offsite locations (such as supplier facilities, Contractor Workshops).Monitor Material Handling: Ensure that materials are stored, handled, and transported in a way that prevents damage and maintains quality.Track Deficiencies: Monitor and track any defects or quality issues and follow up on the rectification of deficiencies.Preventive Measures: Implement preventive measures to avoid quality issues in the future.Participate in Audits: Assist in internal and external audits related to material quality and compliance.Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements in material inspection and handling processes to ensure higher quality standards are met.Follow Safety Protocols: Ensure that the materials and their handling procedures comply with all safety regulations.Hazardous Material Inspection: Inspect and handle materials that may pose environmental or safety risks (e.g., chemicals, hazardous substances) in line with relevant regulations.Welding: Perform fit-up and welding inspections on piping, structural, and mechanical items NDE: Conduct all non-destructive examination (NDE) inspections, review, and sign the reports Support the Quality team in managing the preparation and review of general quality documentationThe role may require performing weekend, extended hours, or night shift work.
Key Skills and CompetenciesTechnical Knowledge: Strong understanding of material properties, metallurgy, and Construction activitiesAttention to Detail: Ability to identify material defects and ensure compliance with strict standards and project specificationsProblem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve material quality issues efficientlyCommunication Skills: Clear and concise communication with teams and stakeholders in English Educational & Professional QualificationsDiploma or Degree in Engineering with minimum 10 years of experience in Oil and gas Construction industry, Preferably in Inspection activitiesRequired valid Welding, Painting and NDE Inspection certificates. API, auditing certifications are added advantageHSE/MOM Trainings/Certifications (AWSHPP or OPSOC/Work at height and Confined Space)
