We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to own and manage end-to-end payroll operations for our growing workforce. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Indian payroll processing, statutory compliance, payroll audits, and process automation. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end monthly payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate salary disbursement.
- Manage employee lifecycle payroll activities, including onboarding, exits, final settlements, promotions, salary revisions, bonuses, incentives, and reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, including PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, TDS, gratuity, and other applicable laws.
- Coordinate with Finance to reconcile payroll data, accounting entries, and salary payouts.
- Manage payroll inputs such as attendance, leave, variable pay, incentives, recoveries, and deductions.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and maintain payroll-related documentation and records.
- Handle employee payroll queries and resolve issues with a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors to improve payroll operations and employee experience.
- Lead payroll audits and support internal and external compliance requirements.
- Drive payroll process improvements, automation, and documentation to improve accuracy and scalability.
- Generate payroll reports, dashboards, and MIS for leadership and finance teams.
- Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and ensure continuous compliance.
What We're Looking For
- 7–12 years of experience managing Indian payroll.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, labour laws, and statutory compliance.
- Experience handling payroll for fast-growing organizations with 1000+ employees is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with payroll and HRMS platforms such as Darwinbox, SAP, Oracle, Workday, ADP, GreytHR, or similar systems.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze payroll data.
- Experience working closely with Finance, HR, auditors, and external payroll vendors.
- Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
