Job Description
Job Overview
Process Engineer – Jacobs (Dublin, Ireland). Full‑time, on‑site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead process design activities, including mass/energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and process modelling for new and existing manufacturing systems.
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve throughput, yield, safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
- Support front‑end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, commissioning, and start‑up activities for advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (HAZOP, LOPA, ATEX) and ensure alignment with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Review conformity with relevant EU directives (PED, ATEX, Machinery Directives).
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and project management teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation including specifications, design reports, operating procedures, and validation protocols.
- Engage directly with clients to understand requirements, present design solutions, and support decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning phases.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of best practices within the Advanced Manufacturing team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering within advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related high‑tech sector.
- Proven experience with process design tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of process safety, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple project priorities.
- Experience supporting commissioning, start‑up, or operational troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in semiconductor, biotech, pharmaceutical, battery manufacturing, or other high‑purity/cleanroom environments.
- Knowledge of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation strategies in manufacturing.
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools, data analytics, or automation/controls integration.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional accreditation.
