Role OverviewThe Secondary Science Teacher (IBDP) is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in one or more science disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) across Secondary, IGCSE, and IB Diploma programmes.The role focuses on creating engaging, inquiry-driven learning experiences that develop scientific understanding, analytical thinking, and practical skills, while supporting students’ academic and personal growth in an international school environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging and effective Science lessons across Secondary, IGCSE, and IB Diploma levels in alignment with curriculum standardsDesign and implement differentiated lesson plans and assessments to meet diverse student learning needsFoster inquiry-based learning and promote conceptual understanding in scientific disciplinesCollaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities and aligned assessment practicesAssess and monitor student progress, set clear improvement targets, and provide timely, constructive feedbackPrepare student reports and engage with parents through conferences and regular communicationContribute to co-curricular programmes, school events, assemblies, and professional development initiativesEnsure a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment aligned with safeguarding and wellbeing standardsPromote the IB Learner Profile attributes and uphold OWIS values in all interactions
Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related Science disciplineRecognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGCEi, PGDE, NIE Diploma, QTS, or equivalent)Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a relevant roleExperience teaching Science within Secondary, IGCSE, and/or IB Diploma programmes
Skills & CompetenciesStrong subject knowledge in one or more Science disciplinesHigh proficiency in spoken and written EnglishStrong ICT skills to support teaching, learning, and assessmentEffective classroom management and student engagement capabilitiesAbility to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment
Preferred QualificationsExperience in an international school settingDemonstrated ability to deliver student-centred, inquiry-based learningAdditional years of experience may be considered for senior teaching rolesImmediate availability will be an advantage
