Job Description
My clients are seeking an experienced Shipyard Head to lead and manage end‑to‑end shipyard operations, driving excellence across vessel repair, maintenance, docking, and fabrication services. This is a senior leadership role responsible for operational performance, commercial discipline, safety, and client satisfaction.
As Shipyard Head, you will take full ownership of shipyard operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards. You will work closely with clients, classification societies, regulators, and internal stakeholders to continuously enhance operational capability and reputation.
Strategic & Operational LeadershipLead end‑to‑end shipyard operations across ship repair, maintenance, drydocking, fabrication, and technical servicesExecute strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and service qualityImplement and enforce operational standards, policies, and best practices
Project ExecutionOversee planning, scheduling, and delivery of vessel repair and maintenance projectsEnsure on‑time, on‑budget delivery in line with contractual and quality requirementsResolve technical and operational issues during execution
Financial & Commercial ManagementManage budgets, cost controls, and resource utilizationDrive cost optimization while maintaining safety and quality standardsSupport pricing, costing, and tender/proposal activities
Safety, Compliance & QualityEnsure compliance with HSE, environmental, and maritime regulationsMaintain alignment with classification societies and regulatory authoritiesChampion a strong shipyard‑wide safety culture
Client & Stakeholder ManagementManage relationships with ship owners, operators, contractors, and partnersDeliver consistent service quality to drive customer satisfactionSupport business development and market positioning
Leadership & People DevelopmentLead and develop shipyard leadership and operational teamsBuild a high‑performance, safety‑focused cultureDrive workforce planning and capability development
Continuous ImprovementImplement efficiency and productivity improvement initiativesDrive process optimization, innovation, and technology adoptionTrack industry trends to maintain competitiveness
RequirementsProven senior leadership experience within shipyard operations or marine engineeringStrong background in ship repair, maintenance, and drydocking projectsSolid commercial, budgeting, and cost‑control expertiseStrong knowledge of HSE, maritime regulations, and classification standardsExcellent stakeholder, client management, and leadership skillsTrack record of leading large, multi‑disciplinary operational teams
