Veterinary doctor, televet, clinical review, and decision logic
Omelo
Job Description
About Omelo
Omelo is a precision pet healthcare and parenting platform for dogs and cats. We are an ecosystem of daily care, individual health baselines, clinical triage, televet consultations, and longitudinal health records. Omelo reasons like a vet and speaks like a calm nurse. We are live on iOS and Android across the US and India.
Pets hide illness by instinct, so problems surface late. Omelo learns each pet's individual baseline over the first 30 days and flags the moment behavioral signals converge into something that matters, often before a blood test would catch it. Our clinical triage runs on vet-authored decision trees and reaches 81 percent agreement with a vet panel, against roughly 50 percent for general purpose assistants.
We exist for a reason. Our founder lost two dogs to parvovirus, a disease that hides until it is almost too late. That is the standard we build to.
Why this role matters
You are the clinical spine of Omelo. Every piece of guidance a pet parent receives has to be accurate, safe, and calm, and you are the person who makes sure it is. This is not a role where you approve a machine's output. You govern the clinical logic, you are the human vet layer above it, and you decide where the bar sits.
Your judgment will shape care for far more pets than any single clinic could reach.
What you'll do
Televet consultations
- Conduct video and text televet consultations with pet parents for dogs and cats.
- Provide calm, clear guidance, triage, and next steps, and know exactly when to route a case to an in-person clinic.
- Be the real-world clinical bridge that sits above Omelo's triage, the human a worried pet parent reaches when a case needs a clinician.
Clinical review of Omelo conversations
- Review real Omelo conversations for clinical accuracy, safety, and tone.
- Flag where guidance was thin, wrong, or unsafe, and feed corrections back into the system.
- Hold the safety floor: no missed red flags, no false reassurance, appropriate escalation every time.
Building clinical logic and decision trees
- Author and expand the vet decision trees that power Omelo's clinical reasoning.
- Turn clinical judgment into structured, testable logic: presentations, differentials, red flags, and escalation thresholds.
- Work with the engineering team to encode that logic into the pipeline, and keep it current with best practice.
What makes this different from clinic practice
In a clinic you help one patient at a time. Here, a decision tree you write guides thousands of conversations, and a safety rule you set protects every pet on the platform. The leverage is the point. If that idea excites you rather than worries you, this is your kind of role.
Must have
- A veterinary degree, or equivalent, and a valid license to practice.
- Real clinical experience with dogs and cats.
- A structured, systematic mind that can turn messy clinical judgment into clear, defensible logic.
- Comfort with technology, and the openness to work alongside an AI system and make it better, not fear it.
- Clear, calm communication with pet parents, both in writing and on video.
Nice to have
- Telemedicine or televet experience.
- Experience writing clinical protocols, SOPs, or triage guidelines.
- Exposure to both Indian and international small-animal practice.
- A genuine interest in how AI can safely extend good veterinary care.
What you get
- Clinical work with real leverage, your judgment shaping care at a scale a single clinic cannot reach.
- A founding clinical seat as we build the safety spine of the product.
- Direct work with the founder and the engineering team, with your voice on the clinical bar.
- Flexible arrangement, full-time or part-time alongside practice
