Vice President, Commercial Banker – Startup Banking
Location: CA - San Francisco, Spear
What you’ll do:
- Identify target markets for new business and develop and establish a book of new business from those relationships.
- Negotiate, underwrite, and coordinate the closing of major and complex loans in compliance with the bank’s lending policies and procedures; develop business checking and deposit relationships with customers.
- Assist clients with deposit related products and services, and gather and analyze client information to recommend appropriate deposit product solutions.
- Compile and analyze market research data to develop recommendations regarding products and services focused on the needs of the target market.
- Engage in business development activities and solicit new business based on the target market.
- Collaborate closely with the treasury partner to ensure seamless client experiences.
- Call and visit target customers to promote and sell bank products and services to establish a new book of business.
- Develop and maintain a customer database including calls and results on all new business relationships and report to superiors as required.
- Interview prospective applicants and request specified information related to loan or credit application; correspond or re‑interview applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Perform basic pre‑qualification assessment and analysis of the financial condition and risk of financing requests within the framework of bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
- Gather all information necessary to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval; meet with new/potential customers; visit loan sites; negotiate loan terms and conditions; recommend acceptance to the Chief Credit Officer or Loan Committee.
- Coordinate processing of approved loans, ensuring loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to banking policies; obtain sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solve problems related to processing and servicing of loans within the relationship manager’s portfolio.
- Maintain a superior knowledge of financial industry status and trends.
- Recommend to senior management products and services experiencing less than satisfactory performance.
- Represent the bank in community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to enhance the bank’s image and develop additional business; assist the bank in establishing and maintaining market position in the financing arena.
What you’ll need:
- 6+ years of related experience or a similar field.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products and services.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced knowledge in all facets of relationship management.
- Advanced organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 50% travel.
Compensation
Salary range for new hires is generally $170,395.00 - $210,488.00 for San Francisco, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. The role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
