Head of Contract Management & Procurement

About the Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, you will lead the contract specialist team to ensure a robust and efficient contract management system that delivers value and reduces risks to the business. The team manages all contracts supporting operations across eight operational sites in multiple states and covers categories such as site services, raw materials, MRO, other goods, site capital, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of procurement strategies including contracting models, sourcing approaches, and early engagement plans.
- Oversee the contract specialist team, develop performance management, and build a high‑performance culture.
- Develop an effective and high‑performing team, define a shared purpose, set goals, and enhance capabilities.
- Continuously review the contract portfolio and prioritize assignments to align with business needs.
- Manage and coordinate contract administration activities throughout tender and execution phases, ensuring cost‑optimisation objectives are met.
- Drive and execute cost‑saving and cost‑avoidance initiatives.
- Develop and maintain contract management standards, guidelines, procedures, end‑to‑end processes, tools, templates, and enforce site‑wide adherence.
- Conduct assessments of business and market conditions to identify sourcing needs and opportunities for cost/service improvement.
- Evaluate and manage strategic sourcing relationships with key suppliers to optimise value, sustainability, and business continuity.
- Establish effective KPIs, monitor performance of the supply chain function, and initiate improvements as required.
- Ensure compliance with regional and local regulatory requirements and drive sustainable procurement improvement.
- Support the development of the team’s profile through timely sharing of key activities, results, and updates with stakeholders.
About You
- 10+ years in contracts or commercial roles, with 3+ years in a similar leadership position.
- High attention to detail and analytical rigour.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to manage vendor and contractor relationships and coordinate across disciplines.
- Deep understanding of commercial frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- A proactive mindset focused on value, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Background in mining or industrial environments.
