Head - Building Engineering Operations

Position Summary - This role of VP Engineering & Technical Team will function as the SME and technical governance authority for HVAC, STP, WTP, Electrical & Building Automation across the organization’s operational real estate portfolio.

The role will serve as the central technical authority for engineering, infrastructure, and engineering services delivery across the organization’s portfolio. The incumbent will lead end-to-end technical strategy covering design, execution, operations, and lifecycle management of engineering and infrastructure services across commercial real estate as well as large-scale infrastructure assets including airports, transportation hubs, and integrated developments.

The role requires deep expertise in MEP systems, HVAC, utilities, and engineering infrastructure services, with a strong focus on service delivery models, technical operations, and large-scale infrastructure project execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Engineering Services Governance

• Act as the central SME for Engineering & Infrastructure Services, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Systems, STP/WTP, Utilities, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Define and implement engineering services frameworks, including O&M standards, service delivery models, SLAs, and AMC strategies.
• Drive standardization of engineering practices, service protocols, and vendor ecosystems across assets.
• Provide expert guidance on complex technical issues, system failures, and infrastructure challenges.

2. Engineering Services Delivery & Operations Excellence

• Lead end-to-end engineering services delivery across operational assets, ensuring high uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
• Establish performance benchmarks, KPIs, and monitoring mechanisms for engineering services teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in service quality, response times, and cost efficiency.
• Oversee centralized command and control for critical infrastructure systems, where applicable.

3. Infrastructure Development & Project Execution

• Lead technical oversight of large-scale infrastructure and construction projects, including airports, commercial developments, and integrated townships.
• Drive engineering design reviews, execution strategy, and project delivery excellence.
• Ensure integration of engineering services design with long-term operations and maintainability.
• Collaborate with EPC contractors, consultants, and stakeholders for seamless project execution.

4. Asset Performance, Reliability & Lifecycle Management

• Ensure optimal performance of engineering infrastructure through predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Implement RCA frameworks to address recurring issues and improve system reliability.
• Develop lifecycle management strategies for critical assets and infrastructure systems.
• Drive digitization and use of analytics for asset performance monitoring.

5. Energy, Utilities & Sustainability Management

• Lead energy optimization, HVAC efficiency, and utilities management across assets.
• Drive sustainability initiatives aligned with ESG, IGBC, LEED, and GRIHA standards.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction through engineering service optimization and technology adoption.

6. CAPEX Planning & Technical Due Diligence

• Lead CAPEX planning for infrastructure upgrades, engineering services enhancement, and asset modernization.
• Conduct technical due diligence for new asset onboarding and infrastructure projects.
• Evaluate new technologies in smart infrastructure, automation, and engineering service platforms.
• Support vendor selection, contract structuring, and long-term service agreements.

7. Stakeholder & Team Leadership

• Lead central engineering and infrastructure services teams across geographies.
• Collaborate with business, operations, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Build and mentor high-performing engineering services teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical (preferred)
• Master’s degree (M.Tech / MBA – Operations / Energy Management preferred)
• 20 years of experience in engineering, infrastructure, or real estate operations
• Exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects (airports, industrial plants, transport hubs, or mega construction projects)
• Proven expertise in MEP systems, utilities, HVAC, and engineering operations

Preferred Profile

• Candidates with experience in engineering services organizations, airport operators, EPC companies, or integrated real estate platforms
• Exposure to centralized engineering services models and large-scale infrastructure operations
