Position Summary
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator provides strategic and academic leadership for the successful implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Coordinator ensures compliance with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme Standards and Practices while promoting academic excellence, student wellbeing, international-mindedness, and a culture of inquiry. The role serves as the primary liaison between the school and the IB Organization for all matters related to the Diploma Programme.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Leadership
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the IB Diploma Programme.
- Ensure full compliance with the IB Programme Standards and Practices.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance programme quality and student outcomes.
- Foster a culture of academic integrity, inquiry, and lifelong learning.
- Lead programme reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Curriculum Management
- Oversee curriculum planning and implementation across all DP subject groups.
- Ensure consistency and quality in unit planning, teaching, and assessment.
- Monitor curriculum alignment with IB subject guides and school policies.
- Coordinate annual curriculum reviews and subject offerings.
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration where appropriate.
3. Teaching and Learning
- Mentor and coach DP teachers through classroom observations, collaborative planning, and instructional feedback.
- Promote high-quality, inquiry-based teaching and learner-centred practices.
- Support differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices.
- Monitor teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
4. Assessment and Examination Management
- Coordinate all internal and external IB assessments and examinations.
- Ensure compliance with IB assessment regulations and examination procedures.
- Oversee internal assessment planning, moderation, and submission timelines.
- Monitor predicted grades and student academic progress.
- Ensure secure administration of IB examinations and accurate submission of required documentation.
5. Core Components Coordination
- Oversee the successful implementation of the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
- Coordinate the work of EE supervisors, TOK teachers, and CAS advisors.
- Monitor student progress in completing all DP core requirements.
- Ensure timely completion and documentation of all core components.
6. University and Career Guidance
- Collaborate with the University and Career Counsellor to support students with university admissions and career planning.
- Provide guidance on IB Diploma requirements related to higher education pathways.
- Support transcript preparation, predicted grades, and academic references where applicable.
7. Professional Development
- Identify professional learning needs for DP faculty.
- Facilitate internal training and collaborative learning opportunities.
- Recommend participation in IB-authorized workshops and conferences.
- Support induction and mentoring of new DP teachers.
8. Student Support
- Monitor student academic progress and wellbeing.
- Coordinate academic interventions for students requiring additional support.
- Promote student agency, resilience, and responsible learning habits.
- Collaborate with counsellors, pastoral leaders, and parents to support student success.
9. Parent and Community Engagement
- Conduct parent orientation sessions on the DP curriculum, assessment, and university pathways.
- Communicate programme expectations, policies, and student progress effectively.
- Organize information sessions, exhibitions, and academic events.
- Build strong partnerships between the school and families.
10. IB Compliance and Administration
- Serve as the primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization.
- Coordinate IB authorization, evaluation, and programme review processes.
- Maintain accurate programme documentation and records.
- Ensure timely registration of candidates, examination entries, assessment submissions, and all required IB reports.
- Monitor adherence to IB policies, including academic integrity and assessment regulations.
11. Leadership and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Principal and Academic Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with the PYP and MYP Coordinators to ensure curriculum continuity across the IB continuum.
- Lead DP department meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and academic development initiatives.
12. Quality Assurance
- Monitor programme effectiveness using student performance data and stakeholder feedback.
- Conduct curriculum audits and review teaching and assessment practices.
- Develop action plans to enhance programme quality and student achievement.
- Promote reflective practice and evidence-based decision-making.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
- IB Diploma Programme professional development certification.
- Minimum 5 years of IB DP teaching experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of academic leadership or programme coordination experience.
- Strong knowledge of IB Diploma Programme standards, subject guides, assessment, and examination procedures.
