Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to join our team onsite in Bali.In this role, you will lead the full spectrum of human resources strategy and operations at one of Bali’s most distinguished luxury resorts, shaping the culture, talent, and people practices that define an exceptional guest and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce PlanningLead end-to-end recruitment for all resort positions, from line associates to senior leadership, ensuring candidates embody the hotel’s values and service philosophy.Develop and maintain a talent pipeline for key operational roles.Collaborate with department heads to forecast headcount needs aligned with seasonal occupancy trends and business strategy.Manage relationships with hospitality schools, industry networks, and recruitment agencies to source high-calibre candidates.
Learning, Development & PerformanceDesign and implement a resort-wide learning and development framework, including orientation, departmental training, international luxury standards compliance, and leadership development programmes.Champion a culture of service excellence by embedding property standards and luxury quality expectations into all training content.Oversee the performance management cycle, including goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisals for all resort employees.Identify high-potential talent and develop structured succession pathways for key positions within the resort.Facilitate cross-property talent mobility and development opportunities in coordination with group leadership.
Compensation, Benefits & PayrollManage and review the resort's compensation structure to ensure market competitiveness within the Bali luxury hospitality sector.Oversee the service charge policy, including collection, deductions, distribution calculations, and transparent communication to eligible employees.Administer employee benefits programmes including BPJS Kesehatan, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, medical insurance, and any supplemental benefits.Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with Indonesian tax regulations and employment law.
Employee Relations & EngagementFoster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture that reflects the hotel’s values and reduces employee turnover.Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, handling grievances, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution with fairness and consistency.Design and implement employee engagement programmes, recognition schemes, and wellness initiatives tailored to the resort environment.Conduct regular pulse surveys and exit interviews to monitor and improve the employee experience.Maintain open communication with resort leadership on team morale, engagement levels, and people risk.
Compliance & HR OperationsEnsure full compliance with Indonesian Manpower Law (UU Ketenagakerjaan), BPJS obligations, IMTA work permit requirements for expatriate employees, and other applicable regulations.Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, contracts, visa documentation, and HR data in compliance with data protection requirements.Develop, implement, and regularly review HR policies and the Employee Handbook to reflect current legislation and resort requirements.Manage the onboarding and offboarding process, ensuring a consistent and professional experience for all employees.
Leadership & CultureLead, mentor, and develop the HR team, building departmental capability and ensuring a consistent, service-oriented approach to HR delivery.Serve as a cultural steward for the property, embedding values-led leadership across all levels of the resort.Contribute to the resort's senior leadership team, providing people-related insights that inform business decisions.Represent the property at relevant hospitality industry forums, professional HR networks, and local employer associations.
RequirementsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR leadership role within a luxury hotel or resort environment.Proven experience in a standalone HR leadership role within a boutique or independent luxury property is strongly preferred.Familiarity with international luxury hospitality quality standards or experience within a recognized luxury hotel collection is an advantage.Skills & CompetenciesDeep understanding of the operational rhythms of a luxury resort, including the HR implications of seasonal demand, multi-department coordination, and 24/7 service environments.Strong knowledge of Indonesian employment law, BPJS administration, and expatriate work permit processes.Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver hospitality-specific training programmes that translate brand values into guest-facing behavior.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly at all levels — from line associates to ownership.High emotional intelligence and a discreet, solutions-oriented approach consistent with the ethos of a luxury property.Proficiency in HRIS systems and payroll platforms; experience with hospitality property management system integration is an advantage.Fluency in English is essential; Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is highly desirable.
