Job DescriptionHealth & Safety Manager - Cork Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Reporting To: Operations Director Company This business is a real success story in the sustainable energy and deep retrofit sector. Over the past 10 years, they have grown into a leading national partner for residential, commercial, and community energy upgrades. To support their next phase of growth, they are seeking a first permanent, in-house Health & Safety Manager to lead and shape their safety culture.
The Role Previously managed through external consultancies and Operations Managers, this role will bring the H&S function completely in-house. The hire will have full autonomy to review, build, and run a modern safety framework that protects workers and over 300 specialist subcontractors on-site. Key Responsibilities Transition & Strategy: Take ownership of existing safety policies and build a proactive, in-house safety culture.
Site Safety & Audits: Conduct regular inspections across active residential and commercial sites in Munster and Leinster (requiring one day per week in Dublin). Subcontractor Management: Oversee safety compliance, RAMS, and site inductions for a trusted subcontractor network. Compliance & Accreditations: Maintain ISO 45001/Safe-T-Cert standards and act as the primary contact for the HSA and local authorities.
Training: Manage company-wide safety training, ensuring all crews hold necessary certifications (Safe Pass, working at heights, etc.). What You Bring: Experience: 5+ years of Health & Safety experience, ideally within construction, mechanical/electrical services, or retrofitting. Education: A Degree or Higher Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
Legislation Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Irish construction and safety regulations. Communication: Ability to build rapport with on-site trade crews while confidently presenting compliance metrics to senior leadership. Mobility: Full clean Irish driving license (willingness to travel to Dublin 1 day/week).
