Job DescriptionHealth & Safety Manager Job Summary An established engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead and develop its Health & Safety function. Reporting to senior leadership, this role plays a key part in shaping and implementing the companys Health & Safety strategy across both site-based operations and a primary production facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving best-in-class Health & Safety standards, ensuring full compliance with regulatory, organisational, and client requirements, while fostering a strong culture of safety across the business.
Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the Health & Safety function across the organisation. Drive the ongoing development and implementation of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems. Conduct training needs analysis and design/deliver relevant Health & Safety training programmes.
Promote and embed a positive safety culture at all levels of the business. Develop, implement, and maintain risk assessment processes. Lead safety awareness, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Establish, monitor, and report on Health & Safety KPIs. Provide strategic insight and influence decision-making at senior leadership level. Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Oversee incident reporting, accident investigation, and corrective action processes. Lead internal and external audits and inspections. Manage the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO 45001 standards.
Support safety committees and employee representatives. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent application of safe working practices. Qualifications & Experience Third-level qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Professional membership (e.g., IOSH or equivalent) desirable. Minimum 5 years experience in a Health & Safety management role within a construction, engineering, or workshop environment. Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation with the ability to translate this into practical systems and processes.
Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience in a continuous improvement environment is advantageous.
