The HR Advisor plays a key role in delivering a professional, proactive and commercially focused HR service across the organisation, with primary responsibility for supporting employees and managers in Ireland.
The role provides expert advice on employee relations, employment legislation, HR policies, performance management, and people processes, ensuring compliance with Irish and UK employment law and company policies.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR contact for employees and managers across Ireland and Scotland (UK), providing professional advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
- Ensure HR practices, documentation and processes remain compliant with current Irish & Scottish (UK) employment legislation, GDPR requirements and company standards.
- Advise and support managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, probation, absence management, employee wellbeing and other workplace concerns, ensuring best practice is adhered to.
- Manage employee relations cases from initial consultation through to resolution, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Prepare, review and issue employment contracts, offer letters, contractual amendments and HR correspondence.
- Maintain accurate HR records and personnel files in accordance with GDPR and internal data management standards.
- Manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, probation, promotions, contractual changes and offboarding.
- Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring all documentation, compliance checks, inductions and system access are completed efficiently.
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures and employee documentation.
- Monitor changes in Irish & Scottish (UK) employment legislation and recommend updates to HR policies, procedures, contracts and working practices where required.
- Produce regular HR reports and people metrics for senior management, identifying trends and making recommendations.
- Support organisational change initiatives and wider HR projects as required.
- Troubleshoot onboarding system issues, coordinate customer site training bookings, generate new system logins and liaise with external customer stakeholders where required.
- Develop, review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across HR processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide end-to-end recruitment support during periods of increased demand or recruiter absence.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR qualification.
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or equivalent generalist HR role.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience managing employee relations cases from start to finish.
- Experience advising and coaching managers on people-related matters.
- Excellent knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience using HRIS systems.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience supporting multi-site or international organisations.
